winter wonderland

“Between every two pines is a doorway to a new world.”
-John Muir

This Christmas J and I woke up to a sparkling, glittering, shimmering neighborhood of brilliant white snow.

A truly white Christmas.

Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined a place this beautiful. Growing up mostly in North Carolina, I had a lot of “sunny Christmasses” – on occasion we would have a “pseudo-white” Christmas- but nothing ever came close to the glistening blanket that covered our front yard this year.

Being a winter-loving girl at heart, I reveled in the fluffy tufts of gleaming snow on our porch. I breathed in a gulp of fresh minus five air, and smiled at the two hours of daylight. What a beautiful world we live in. What a bright, fantastic place we get to explore.

So the merriest of Christmas’ to all of you! And all the joy I can send from Alaska to you.

Have you ever had a white Christmas? I would love to hear about it.
